Work-From-Home Survival Tips for Extroverts
Posted by WIMWI Foods Private Limited on
Working from home is every introvert’s dream come true ... right up until the cat just throws up itself on your keyboard. And your homies start broadcasting you all sorts of news on how the world is coming to an end!
In all these isolation and lockdown, extroverts are putting extra effort than all of us to stay sane and slowly adapting the lifestyle of introverts.
Extroverts draw energy from the people around us, so voluntary isolation and forced social distancing are both exhausting and disheartening these social bees. Unlike introverts who are right now at cloud 9 because of all the isolation, extroverts miss going office, seeing and catching up with colleagues and getting stuff done in person.
Since we don’t know how long it will take to get things normal, we have some cool work from home tips for extroverts to ensure you get the socialization you desire even in times of lockdown!
Early to start Early to End!
One of the most common mistakes everybody does while work-from-home is that they start their work post-lunch and end up feeling unproductive at the end of the day. Believe it or not, this burns out your productivity and slowly diminishes your will to work from home as an extrovert. It’s highly recommended that you plan out everything including your tea breaks and skype call with your teammates before starting your work.
Suit Up!
Literally dress up like how you would dress when you are going to the office! This sets up a positive tone for the day and gets you mentally prepared for the work ahead.
It’s such a small thing but it works.
Make the most of the technology:
Harness the power of modern technology to its fullest and satiate your social cravings. Leverage tools like skype, slack and other tools that help keep your conversations going between you and your teammates. Remember that even if you are working remotely you have to find ways to communicate with your team to stay on course and get things done with better clarity.
Engage with your colleagues:
As an extrovert, you might start missing those fun conversations you used to have in the office. Well, you cant replace those cherishable moments but can surely replicate by creating non-work related groups and post funny memes, gifs, and jokes around. This will keep you engaged and give you a much-needed break between all the work.
It’s a great time to upskill:
This isolation is the biggest opportunity of your lifetime! Its the right time for you to take up some courses that you always dreamed of but never had the time because of those exhaustive journeys to the office. It is the perfect time to upskill yourself and be invincible in your field. There are institutions and people who are providing free courses during this isolation to keep extroverts like you engaged. For example, if you love coding, join a free online courses.
Have Lunch Virtually with your colleagues:
Why eat alone when you can virtually have lunch with your teammates. There’s something about a team lunch together that makes the conversation more efficient and interesting. So make a list of three or four topics you want to cover and jump right in.
Find an online community:
If you do not have a team of co-workers with whom you regularly connect, you can fill this void by joining an online community that will give you the outlet to exchange ideas, share problems you are tackling and make connections. Online communities can be found everywhere in our current digital-focused workforce.
LinkedIn is also a great platform to leverage during this time. The LinkedIn family is the most welcoming and supportive compared to any other platform.
Whether you’re an extrovert, introvert, or an ambivert, the reality is that you can excel at anything that you put your mind to; whether that’s remote work, office work, farm work…or whatever it is that floats your boat! The most important thing is to stay true to yourself and work on being the best that you can be, in any situation. So, hop on to the remote work lifestyle and be awesome at just being you!
